When did these foldable mirrors come out? Are they heated and power? I know they fold manually but do they have the gimble switch like my '99 standard mirrors?

Mine are heated and electric so if I were to put the trailer mirrors on would I still keep the electric and heat?

Edit: I put this in the Engine and transmission section, sorry, I am tired!

As far as I know, none of the towing mirrors are heated on 2nd gen. trucks anyway. I think there is a thread on how to make this work though. ;)

Mirror swap.......

Yes, you can put the power/heated tow mirrors on your truck. I put them on mine, as did several other TDR members. The issue is that you will need the tow mirror bases from a 2nd gen truck, and the heads from a 3rd gen truck. You swap the 02 bases to the 03 heads. Your existing switch may work. It's pricey if you don't have the bases already. I did it, and the mod was one of the best on the truck. Search for the mirror swap for alot of instructions from Rob Thomas and some input from your truely. If you tow a large trailer, they are great. Good luck... ... ... . :D Sarge

Sounds good. I will check out the other install threads. I do not tow but love the bigger look. More of a looks than function thing for me.

NP: If you do the swap, your factory mirror joystick and heat switch will work. Like Sarge said, the basic idea is to swap the power head an arm assembly onto the older base. To connect them, you can scavenge the wires and connectors off of your sport mirrors. Credits to Rob Thomas for making up a set of instructions!
