RVPoser,

I understand that your limited intellect and desire to be argumentive makes it hard for you to follow these conversations but please, read the post several times and try to understand what it is about before posting. We're not discussing what is legal under DOT rules, we're talking about the effects of overloading the truck. I stated an 18,500 lb. trailer is too heavy for the truck and I wouldn't tow one unless forced to do so and only under very limited situations.

You've towed an RV trailer fewer miles than anyone else who posts here so why do you clutter the threads with your useless opinions? You have no experience and no idea what the truck feels like with an 18,500k trailer on it. Your opinion is of no value.

As far as my experience goes, I've been hauling boats, 5ver's for the last 25 years. But can you say you've hauled 80K GCVW (not rating), I wont even bring into the conversation the M60 tanks I hauled with 10 TON trucks and Dragon wagons in Fort Hood. I did read it and who is being argumentative, you lecture every one about the GCVWR being worthless, even nonexistence when it comes to DOT. I repeat, I would haul the 5ver the OP posted about and it would be safe with his truck and my truck, that is the ultimate question. The better suspension on mine does give me an advantage over his but airbags would help him level his truck under the load. He needs to hook up and scale the 5ver with his truck to make sure, but using your calculations, he will be under his axle weights. His 3:54 axle can move that load but will be in 4th and higher RPM's on steep grades and a little slower, but it can do the job, good thing he's got the NV5600.

RVPoser,

What someone might do or have done with a 10 wheel tractor has no bearing on what someone might do with a light truck.

If the thread is about GCWR and DOT regulations, which often pop up, you are quoting me accurately. When the question is can a member who does not have commercial hauling experience with a light truck haul a huge fifthwheel that grossly exceeds GCWR of an older dually Dodge with the wrong gears, the answer is different. I understand - you have trouble understanding the subtle differences but your intellectual limits are not my fault.

We both know that you grossly exaggerate your hauling experience with a light truck but as long as those who you are giving that advice to know it I'm not troubled by it.

Hsmartash, I forget you know everything about everything, (look at your new user name) and is an expert on any subject you post on. The OP is looking for advise and if he doesn't like my advise he can ignore it, it doesn't mean you can't haul it with his 3500. But where do you get the balls to tell me what my experience is or is not. And yes having the knowledge to haul 80K can relate to your LT hauling.

You're often good for a laugh, RVPoser. You never allow lack of understanding of what a thread is about or complete lack of knowledge or understanding of a subject prevent you from offering an opinion.

This same question is asked time after time on RV/Net. The OP knows the answer. He knows the trailer is too big for his pickup. He is going to buy the trailer. He isn't going to get a bigger truck. He is looking for some support from anyone who will tell him what he wants to hear. That way, when he has a major componant break down or something else bad happens he will have the excuse that "the experts on _________ forum said it was OK". Now he gets the bonus of two grown men quibbling like children. Good grief.

Yep, it happens on pretty much all the RV forums. The OP isn't looking for answers, he's looking for confirmation of a decision he's already made - just looking for enablers. And there are plenty of folks who will tell him that if he just puts airbags and a Rickson 19. 5" wheel/tire upgrade on the truck, he can tow that Teton with his 4 cylinder automatic Ford Ranger and be perfectly legal.

OK, what does the OP truck weigh with a full tank and what is the weight of the 5ver with full propane tanks and enough fresh water for the toilete use to make it to its destination?

A question was asked, and I stated it is possible, and got some very negative reactions. Here is an example of just how it can be done. That same 5ver with my 3500 C&C, is close to 23K and can be legally towed with my old 2500 CTD.
