Towing Recomendations

This spring I'll be towing a load with my truck for its first time. I'll be pulling a 3000lb. deck over trailer with a 6500lb truck on top of it. Right now my 03 is stock but I do plan on doing LOTS of stuff to it this summer. However, for a few tows the truck will be exactly stock.



My question is, do I need to take any precautions as far as watching EGT's or anything while pulling when my truck has no mods done to it. I know there are things to monitor when it has a box etc. , but how about in its stock form?

Thanks guys. I just found out I live about 30 minutes from Diesel Injection of Pittsburgh. So I am excited to start modifying. Oo.

No prob's with the load - I'd just let it idle prior to shut down for a little while longer... (esp if you just finished an uphill pull - just common logic!)
