This is an approach from the other end of the truck;) . I use a anchor shackle attached with a clevis pin to the hitch bar in the reciever hitch (instead of a ball). This makes a good anchor point at the rear of the truck for a chain/rope.

thats what i do with the front receiver...

I sold mine on eBay when I got my new bumper. You might want to keep checking there for a set. Make sure you get the reinforcemnet plates as well as the hooks.

it can't be this difficult

to remove the bumper... i backed out the nuts, but the bolts hit on the intercooler. Which would not move- even when i unbolted everything i could see. My bumper bolts on with two bolts, held together by a metal strip.

Is there a technique which would help? I stripped out two torx bolts trying to take the blasted tow hooks off, all to install a westin bull bar which looks less stout in the box than it did on the website. Sigh...

i say just go for the factory tow hooks. check out www.dodgeparts.com and see what they sell them for. ebay is another good option but you will pay just about what you would buying a new pair. keep your eyes open for a pair that someone removed from their truck and you can probably pick them up pretty cheap.

After reading all the pros and cons here, I think Im just going to go to the local welding shop that has done several hitches and my side steps on both trucks and have them make me a custom class IV hitch under my front bumper. If nothing else, it will make parking my 30' trailer alot easier. Then I can also use it for the winch setup. My guess is one installed wont cost more than $250, from all the other prices Ive been charged from these guys. They do first class work. Ill keep all informed with any progress. :)
