I am running a comp box with DDIII and want to know if anyone has this setup with a B1 quick spool? I am still running my 35 for right now and want to get the right turbo the first time. This is a work truck that will tow 20K on a regular basis and will hook to a sled about five times a year.

I too would like to have one on my third gen with series 3 injectors but I can't allow towing to suffer.

B-1 Info

Go to search forum at top of page; type in the first box "turbo and upgrade" (without quotes).

See the threads from 1/13 - "B-1 Turbo question" (Comment by DHayden)

Also see thread from 12/2 - "User Report - KSB-1B"

Not exact matches to your set up but close - and good B-1 info!

Good Luck

If you're going to hook to a sled, the B1 is gonna be a lot more durable. Some turbos can't handle the stress.

The B1 is quite a bit more than some others (~$1500 vs ~$1000) but you do get a lot for your money.

If towing, you're going to want the Kwikspool flavor. If you want to tow on 5x5, you're going to need the larger KSB1. If you want more spool (and have the sense not to tow on 5x5) go with the KSB1-B, which has a smaller wheel for faster spoolup.

I ran that combo for part of 80K. Dragged a 13. 5K pound 5th wheel and no problem. I had the Scotty Air II on and I ran the comp on 3/3. Then I went to the Powermax Comp and ran on level 5 or 6 towing and 9 all the time empty. EGT's were safe.

Thanks for the replies, I first had heard that the B1 would be to sluggish to tow but that was before I found out how many versions there are.

scott1 what did you or others do about a wastegate?

See sig,

I don't waste gate mine. Pull 13k 5er. Seldom go over 25#.

I also put a TAG on mine and it cut the Scotty II noise to next to NOTHING!

I highly recommend the TAG with the Scotty II (cowl cut). Makes a PERFECT combination.

I do not have any problems towing with Super Mentals and Comp on 1, but I am also towing only a 6000 lbs trailer. I have the KSB-1.

Anybody run a B1 with the 35 outlet???

I know it kinda defeats the purpose, but I don't wanna change out the brake.

RKohn, I had to get a remote exhaust brake as the oulet on the KSB-1 is 4" diameter hence there is no way that the brake for a 35 would bolt up at the elbow.

No Wastegate here.

If I was to go over the 50-54 psi of boost I was at I would've looked into it with Kwikkity Kurtspool. Sold the truck and got the 04. Now its going to get some BOMBS too. :)
