Hi all, I have a question for all you trailer towing folks: I have an 02 QC LB with 4. 10's and an auto and am thinking about getting a 25-28' TT. My concern is with the stock transmission. Will it hold up to towing a trailer of this size and weight without upgrading the transmission? TIA Phil

I don't think you will have any transmission troubles with the trailer you are considering.

It is the last few words in your signature that caught my eye, "box stock for now". Once you start turning up the power, you'll be looking into trans upgrades, again, not due to the trailer though.

you should come up to bd dyno days next sat the 20th. you will be able to meet a bunch of people from the seattle area. if you don't know them already. goto www.nwbombers.com to the forums under events and you will see that everyone meets up and drives up there together.

Shouldn't have any problems at all. My uncle has a 98 DC, auto, with 3. 55's. He's been towin a 28' TT with a super slide, weighs around 9K. Hasn't had any problems at all with his truck. Having the 4. 10's can only be better. I tow 8K with mine, bone stock. No problems, yet. I always keep the rpm's 2K or better.

Line Pressures...

It wouldn't hurt to check your line pressures and see if your transmission is on the high side or low side of the factory settings.

I'm towing a TT that's 26' w/o the tongue.

I have a 99 4x4 QC with 3. 55's.

The power is stock, the transmission is stock. I only bolted on a Maghytech pan. To start, this is a sure easy upgrade that will insure some more margin in transmission temps.

Dry weight of my TT is 5600lbs.

When we go out I load the bed up with firewood (fiberglass cap on the back too), ~45 gallons of fresh water in the bed... 40 gallons of fresh water in the TT. My wife packs as if we're going away for a month.

I have no idea what I'm at by the time all the BEER, soda, juice and hamburgs are packed.

I tow upstate NY and thru New England with a heavy foot.

I also tow off road.

I haven't put any guages in the truck yet. The transmission fluid is always looking perfect. Never felt the transmission slip or choke. The truck has never run hot. I change the transmission fluid every year.

Been saving for some guages. . transmission temp and fuel pressure are the 1st when I can buy 'em.
