I've been running a Smarty stacked with a True Torque Power Module for a few months now. I love the power and acceleration. I have it set on #8. I don't run any timing with it. Just maximum torque and duration. I have 4" exhaust and a BHAF. I'm getting ready to tow to a car show next week. Trailer weight will be about 7000 pounds. What's the optimum settings for towing with the Smarty?

Smarty Towing

I have found 4 to be good for towing, I also shut my Edge Box off. 6 and 8 are good too but it sure does leave soot all over the back of my camper!:D

Yeah, I can see that. If I feather the go pedal, it's not too bad, but if I mosh it the sunlight dims considerably behind me! Good to use on annoying bicyclists, though!

Refer to the Smarty manual. It says number 3 is the setting best for towing. I use 3 and either keep my TST box off or on a lower setting like 2 or 3. It has plenty of pulling power at these settings. Yes, the soot does get all over my camper, but it can be controlled somewhat by slower acceleration from stoplights, etc.

Yes, I'm heading to Carlisle. Dragging the Charger along. Still smokes on #4, but not as bad as #8. I think the duration is what's really doing it. Power is a lot more linear now. Still has plent of punch, though. You heading to Carlisle too?

with your ttpm try setting 2 (no timing) and all of th default settings. my last trip towing was with the smarty on 3 and no EZ and it was an easy drive. all of the Catcher settings are too much of a PITA with the big trailer and big tires. hard to accelerate smoothly...

I turn off my Comp and download #9. I pull 18K up some hills that stall old dump trucks on a regular basis. If I'm lazy I just run the #8 I use with my Comp but the #9 really pulls hard up those steep hills.

Got home yesterday afternoon. It was a great show. The pull was fine with Smarty on #4. Still smoked a bit on acceleration, but not too bad. Mostly in 3rd gear when I'd start to pour it on. I"ll be towing to a tractor show next week, then I'll bump the Smarty back up to #8 for dyno testing at the truck show in August.
