Has anyone had any experience towing yet with the New 2008 6. 7 in 3500 4x4 with the auto and the 3. 73 gears?Test drive last night showed this truck runs very low rpm not towing anything.

I have an 07. 5 3500 4x4 with the 6. 7 and use it to tow a 14,880 pound 40 foot 4 slide 5 er. I'm happy, but you have to remember to punch the tow haul mode button otherwise the transmission short shifts towing. I find that sometimes you have to keep the gear selector in 5 even on a slight incline to keep the rpm up in the power range. Compared to my old 48RE transmission though, this truck is leagues ahead towing.

I haved towed pretty regular also. I just punch the tow/haul and leave it in 6th. At first I thought it was to high geared also. The trans temp showed fine so I just keep a trucking.

We have a truck and trailer combo similar in size to Paul's except slightly lighter. Our truck has the 4. 10 gears. With this ratio you can tow in OD almost all of the time except for steep hills, then it usually just gos down to 5th. It really can pull away from a stoplight withthe trailer in tow easily. At 65mph you are turning around 1800 rpm. Yes you use more fuel, but towing in traffic is really easy with this gearing. Just my 2 cents worth.

I have an 08 with the 68rfe and 3. 73's.
I just pulled my 14. 5K 5er around 7000 miles. I clock around 1500 rpm at 60mph just fine. If I need more power I drop it in to 5th and not a problem.

With that many miles, did you hand calculate your MPG? I just delivered a 33' Weekend Warrior to Salt Lake, Utah and was getting around 9. 5 MPG on the over head but that was mostly uphill all the way from So. Cal. and I did not hand calc. my MPG. Although mine is a G56/3:73. I kept it in the 23-25 RPM range no mater what gear I was in, when climbing the grades and it did pull strong. I like running high RPM to keep the EGT down when climbing grades. I felt the (305 HP version C&C) difference in the lower HP than my 04. 5 pulling heavy, but that was only when passing the slower semi's when they passed another semi and entered my lane slowing me down because traffic would not allow me to change lanes.
