Have about 2,000 miles on my truck The manual says to tow at 50 mph for the first 500 miles of towing. Are people realing doing this? I feel like will need a caution drive on front and back at that speed.

That pertains to towing in the first 500 miles. After you get 500 miles on truck tow away, the heavier the better. It helps the engine breakin properly. :D

NO

that seems to come from the rear axle maker

My axle got hot over 195 Deg on outside of case when i had about 12,000 Lbs and got cooler as the miles went up .

My first tow was 3000 lbs and I kept it under 50 mph

the truck had about 900miles befor I towed anything
