Spent some time researching the various BD transmission controllers last night. Having the 05 with out the OD lock out makes towing frustrating. The truck will physically pull many grades but gets really hot and I need to force the downshift while in T/H. I do not have an exhaust brake and most likely will not get one for a long time. I'm thinking about just running the BD o/d lock out. From my reading you can still use the t/h shift logic with the o/d off? Or run standard shift logic with out going into o/d? Is there a display that shows which mode you are in? I also have a manual lock up switch, thing I do not like about the manual switch is that if I am in D it just wants to up shift unless there is a moderate amount of load. But I guess with the o/d locked out that would not be as much of a problem? I have a tow coming up from Vancouver BC down here to SF CA so would really like to have something in place for this trip. Thanks guys.

I would be a bit leery of adding an outside controller right before a trip. The factory set up works so easy.

The bigger turbos almost make the higher rpm necessary. Although there is a company working on the perfect turbo now. I am hopping that it is doable.

Yes, the TH shift logic works great when OD is locked out.

Yes, the BD kit gives you LED lamp that can be added to the dash in a convenient position, and labeled, that tells you when the lockout is engaged.

You can activate the lockout in TH or normal either one, depending on what mode you are in to start. Its a simple double tap on the TH button to activate. If you are moving it is advisable to be off the throttle when you turn the OD lockout on or off. This will minimize any locking into gears or confusion thta can happen under heavy throttle and trying to flip between modes.

You can still use the lockup switch in any gear with the OD lockout and generally have good results. If you are going to change modes just remember to turn the mystery switch off or it can do some weird things. ;)
