On my way back to Alaska, I decided to replace the Michelin 265 that came on my truck. I had one that ended up with a grapefruit sized bubble on the sidewall. The dealer in Billings that replaced it said that it was a common thing with Michelin.

I have wanted to try the Toyo brand, but they were not available in 265x16 , until very recently!!!

I was ready to settle for the BFG AT in D load rating, and checked one last time and of all things just in the last month they are available!!!

Toyo Open Country AT 265x75x16 E load rating. A nice aggresive tread pattern and VERY stiff sidewalls.

I've put approx. 3000 miles on them so far and am very happy with them. They are far stickier on packed snow and ice than the Michelins and they are every bit as good on dry pavement, and better in turns as you don't get the weak sidewalls rolling under in turns

Toyo Tires

I have also heard good things about Toyo tires. Went to their website but could only find LT265/75R16 D range 8 ply 3000 Lb capacity tire in the Open Country AT.

Are you sure about the E range 10 ply? How much was the cost per tire? I was quoted $135. 00 for the D range.

Thanks, Mike Gire

Yes I'm sure!!!! They are load range E, 3415lbs

As I said before, they are very new, these are the first set that the dealer had seen.

Mine were 140 mounted and balanced

I have run the TOYO M-54 tires on my truck 235/85 LR E. They did well for me, will be buying TOYOs again when I wear out the current ones.

You can buy TOYO at Les Schwab (opinions vary), but they are in Washington State and Anchorage.

Good Post. At 80k on originals, I'm in the market now, and it sounds like these are EXACTLY what I've been looking for.

I hear the Toyo M-54s are the way to go. That's what I'll be running next time if my 8 ply 80k mile Toyos ATs ever wear out, looks like I'm only half way there though! Les wants $175 each in Montana also. I highly recommend siping, the only thing better on ice are tire chains. Cenex fuel truck driver showed me the only unsiped tire on his tanker today. It was a replacement and even though it was the newest of his four rears it was obviously the most worn. Sold me even more on siping.

Does Toyo have any 285/75r16 Mud terrain tires available? I didnt see any when i did a quick search. Gonna have to get some pretty quick, and the 10 ply rating looks pretty good.

I will have to agree with Brobertson that these tires are great in turns. You do not get any sidewall rolling. Hope they will last as long as the Michelins.

Toyo

I just bought the Proxes S/T 295/65/17 114V for this years racing. I am excited about the how light they are and finally not doing over 100mph on M/Ts! I will need new m/ts soon, but I want to go back to 36x14. 50s so it may be swampers new tires.
