my dad got the same for his chevy a couple months ago for only $95 a piece unmounted (friend mounted them). they're very quiet and are a quality tire! they took very little weight to balance them. i'd like to know how they do offroad, especially in snow. i'll probably be getting the toyos for my truck in the fall.

Have always replaced the OEM tires with a set of Toyos, from Les Schwab, after the original ones wear out. Had OEM GoodYears on a new truck, a few years ago, and got less then 30,000 miles out of them. The Toyos last at least twice that long. Don't know if I'll replace my Michelins that came with my 2001 with another set of Michelins, or Toyos. Depends on price and how long the Michelins last... :D

Just out of curiousity--has anyone bought from tires101.com? They have a pretty decent price on the Toyo AT in 285x75x16...

TOYO M55's

I intend to buy TOYO M55's from Tires 101 here any day now.

LT235/85R16 I think will require a 2" spacer from correctrack. Two 9. 3" inches wide tires on a dually. Pretty Cool. I am still debating whether or not to put LT265/75R15 on the fronts with 10. 8 inches of tire width. It will defiantly be Toyo and Tires101 here soon.

Toyo tires

Just bought a set of 4 last week. Like them. Good looking. These tires are Les Schwab's top-of-the-line. They normally sell for $146. 00. Schwab is having a 50th anniversary sale on them (until the end of August) for $123. 00 each. They carry a 50,000 mile warranty (some fine print, however). I was lucky, I live near Oregon, no sales tax! Besides saving $80. 00 off the orginal price, I saved the tax ($40. 00 plus). Another point is that they come factory sipped.

What size did you get? I currently run the Wild Country RTV's from Schwab. I like them, but they last only about 30K.

I purchased the Toyo Open Country tires about March. They have been running great compared to the BFGs that I had. These tires balanced out great and have not had to be rebalanced yet. The BFGs had to be rebalanced weekly. I run 285/75/16.

I've been wanting to buy a set of Toyo M503z tires, but nobody in Alaska carries them.

I knew I should've picked 'em up when my wife and I were down in Washington...

If you guys want an aggresive looking tire and has good life and quiet on roads then go with the BFG's AT's I paid 648. 00 for a set and they have a 50k warranty. Better price then scwhabs "wild country" and last a lot longer. Dont buy the BFG's from schwab they will run you about $800. 00:eek:

hammersly, how do they do for sidewall flex? I was planning to get Terra Grapplers but now am planning to get the Toyos from Les Schwab. There is no place here that sells the Terras. Les Schwab also has a 50K guarantee. I'm going with 18 inchers :D

By the way what part of northern Canada did you just come back from? I drove up to NW Territories a couple weeks ago (Great Slave Lake and Hay River). Great trip and beautiful country.

I talked with two guys who ran the BFG AT's. They both got about what I did with my 1st set of Wild Country RTV's, about 30K. I had the Toyo Open Country on my old F**d Bronco. They did fine on pavement, but got torn up on some roads I drive every summer in Montana. I just got back from another trip up there. The RTV's held up well, I just wish I could get more miles from them. They are cheaper than the BFG's too. Anyone tried the Cooper AT's? I've heard good things about them.

Chris

Vaughn,

You can get the Terra Grapplers from www.tires.com. Their prices include shipping. Also, I don't know if it will affect your decision, but from what I was able to find out, Toyo manufactures the tires for Nitto.

So far I am very happy with the Nittos.

I just got LT285 75 16's on my 98. 5. Anybody figured out how to re-cal the speedo? Dealer says he can't do it. transmission shop tried via computer but no luck. By the way so far these tires are great. I had nothing but dissatisfaction with the Goodyears that came stock.
