C7 Cat Oil Change...strange idle.

Case 1845c question! Fuel Starvation?

can some one please explain to me how toyota gets a 8. 0 liter 6-cylinder diesel!!!!!!!!!!!! i think its time we start asking cummins to put the C8. 3 in the knew 4500 and 5500 dodges, just to shut up the toyota crowd for a bit. i just dont understand how they can cram a 8. 0liter inline six in that truck and call the truck drivetrain medium duty? its seems weird. now i dont know a whole lot about that motor, but is it not alll that it sounds? i assume our little 5. 9's could still blow the doors off it?

if im reading the specs right, shouldnt this hino motor be bigger than a Cat7. 2?? it just dosent make sense to me, somthing seems to be wrong here.

SEMA 2007: Toyota Tundra Dually Diesel - Autoblog

Sorry can not help you on the specs. but if the north american big three don't get it together pretty soon Chrysler will have one less person buying from them.

It's just a concpt truck. The HVAC doesn't work due to space constraints. This engine in this truck will never make production. I figure there isn't a Toyota or Hino diesel engine built yet that is the right size for the Tundra. I bet they will have some form of diesel engine in the near future. Just not this one. If dodge did something similar the would put in a class 8 cummins into a Ram. If it was posible to fit it into the truck and take it to SEMA it Jwould be very cool, but also never make production. Dust too big and heavy for the truck.

As long as they have a short bed (6' 5") and ferd type tow mirrors, I'm not interested. Besides, I'm very happy with my Dodge with a Cummins engine.

Dont they know most want smaller motors for better fuel economy.

Give me a straight 4bt cummins and ill putt around happy as a clam :)

The European manufacturers are going to be the ones to get it right with diesel engines in USA. They can get some real power out of smaller engines and get fuel efficiency too. Just look at BMW's coming 3 liter inline 6 engine. It has massive power and excellent fuel economy. Yes, we need power in full size trucks for work, hauling and pulling but we need smaller engines for fuel efficiency. Diesel is where the efficiency is, but instead of getting in all the power wars, the manufacturers should offer an efficiency war on the opposite end, such as a diesel SUV and 1500 pickup with an inline 6 similar to BMW's that will get 30+ MPG.

It will be interesting to see if these new diesels which are soon to be in USA will be aimed at maximum efficiency or as another power war on the smaller vehicles. I like choice. Why not offer a 4 or 6 cylinder small displacement engine for good power and excellent fuel economy, then offer a bigger engine for the power hungry crowd? Hopefully we will have that choice soon, as Audi, BMW, Volkswagon and others are coming out with some efficient and powerful diesel engines.
