TPM Sensors interchangeable from 2013 to 2010 rims?

I have the polished aluminum rims on my truck and it has the tire pressure monitor sensors. I prefer the look of the chrome steel rims over the polished aluminum. I have a chance to pick up an essentially new set of the chrome steel from a 2010 fairly cheap. I've searched these forums and have gotten mixed reports on if my TPM sensors will switch over to the 2010 rims. Can someone confirm or deny this?

The ride will not be as smooth as with the aluminum!

TPMS are generally generic. Certain brands probably purchase their OEM or replacement sensors from a small number of manufacturers and may try to distinguish them from others but many, perhaps most are simply a generic sensor.

One of the sensors on my VW TDI failed a couple months ago. Rather than pay what I expected would be an inflated price for part and labor at the VW dealer I took it to SAM's Club where I've bought tires and batteries for 20 years. The tire guys, all my friends, had two choices in their supplies. They installed and tested the cheaper one first and the car computer wouldn't talk to it. They removed and installed the other brand and it works fine. They didn't charge me very much.

I would bet their is no difference between the sensors of aluminum and steel wheels.
 
I have no clue if the 10s will work with the 13s but we have seen tons of issues with pd's swapping wheels of different years. There are some years that are the same and some that are not
 
The 10s do not have TPM sensors. If the sensors will swap over to the 10 rims and the 10 rims will work on my 13(pretty sure they do), that's what I will do.

Just curious, where did you get that information?
My 2010 had sensors. The new rim I bought had to have one mounted, because the dealer didn't realize they did not come with them.
 
What I am saying is the rims I am looking at do not have sensors. Not saying 2010s didn't or these never did, just saying that currently they do not. All I want to know, is before I buy the 2010 rims is this: will my 2013 TPM sensors swap over to the 2010 rims?

Sorry for not answering sooner. Any sensors that I have tangled with fit a standard valve stem hole. You can put regular valve stems in a rim that had sensors, we do it at work if the customer can not get a sensor that day or is running winter rims. Many do not wish to spend an extra two to three hundred dollars on additional sensors for winter rims. They would rather look at the tpms light all winter and spend the money saved on something else. It makes a nice addition to a check engine light that is constantly illuminated... .....
