TPS Adjustment - Revisited

O. k. guys, the TPS on my 92 has again come out of adjustment even after putting locktite on the little bolt. My question is, anyone else have any ideas? Could there possibly be anything wrong with the TPS itself? Can you buy just the plastic key w/bolt from Dodge or Cummins??? If yes, anyone happen to have a part number? Running out of ideas here... thanks in advance.

Try putting a couple of washers under the mounting bracket for the TPS. With it spaced up farther away. You can run a locknut on the bolt itself.

i just ordered the little plastic piece withe the bolt coming out of it for mine. Stealer had to special order it and it cost $35. 00. I had to order one because mine broke when i was trying to adjust it. i just superglued mine back together but i'm not gonna trust it especially since our trucks ride like tanks.

One thing to remember. Super glue does not hold up if you put a twisting load to it. You going to need to get a locknut on it some how.



My least suggestion for something to use would be a breakable type of locitite.

Philip is right, and I will expand a little on superglue.



In a previous life, I worked in the development lab for an adhesive company. Cyanoacrylates (super glue) work good in tension, poor in shear, very bad in wet environments, vibration and shock will cause failure also. Remember the add of the guy hanging by his hardhat? Just a small tap on the block while under load will cause the bond to fail. Heat is another negative. So I think using in an underhood application is asking for failure, IMO.

Everything went good today. I spaced up the TPS bracket and installed a locknut on the small bolt. If this is a permanent fix, I will let everyone know.
