I have removed my auto in favor of a 5-speed and I removed my TPS today thinking I don't need it but... ... ... ... ... . NO CRUISE! Anybody have any idea what wires to connect to bypass the TPS? If I have to I will leave it on but surely if it goes out again (I'm on my 3rd with 195K miles) I can work around it, can't I?

Thanks,

Scott

Cruise doesn't need the tps. The problem may be the P-N safety switch, the wires will need to either be shorted together or connected to the clutch safety switch.

No need to switch PCMs.

Cruise issues

First carefully check the vacuum line that runs under the driver side battery to the cruise servo. It is frequently destroyed by battery acid that leaks down fromn the battery tray. Next connect a vacuum gauge and check to see if you have vaccum at the cruise servo. The cruise also gets input from the brake switch. Do you have the correct switch for the trucks with cruise? I'm not an expert but my Ramcharger conversion had to have a brake switch for another year Ram in order to work. I don't know if you need a different PCM, but I would think that the TPS would not be needed on the manual trucks. I have the connector for it on my 97 but its just empty thus I don't think that it would be required on your truck either.

P-N safety switch

ABorchard has a good point. The PCM disables cruise if it thinks the truck is not in drive or 2nd if memory serves. Ken Irwin

The cruise works as long as the TPS is on the truck and plugged in. The man that did the installation told me to leave the auto shifter in the "Park" position, so it could well be some kind of switch there.

Thanks,

Scott

Why not get the proper steering column to get rid of auto trans shifter, clutter etc. ?

I think I could hook you up cheap with a PCM for a 94 manual trans 2*4 truck and the steering column. Not sure if the wiring harness is still available.
