when i took my tps off the first time, i had a bracket on the outside that apparently has no function. it is almost L shaped and has 3 holes in it. 2 of the holes are for the tps bolts and the 3rd appears to be for a spring from the pic in the service manual. also, it shows the bracket in the manual to be behind the tps. mine is on the outside and has no spring attached. all of this was brought to my attention by RAMMIN' (thanks) when he asked about my return springs... . of which i don't know yet cause the rig is at the alternator shop while i'm out of town tomorrow. any comments on this bracket illflem... . i know you probably know this area well since you clean your tps every oil change... . thanks. scott.

I have seen the bracket you are talking about while I have worked on other folks' 97's and 98 12 valvers. My truck is a 95 and does not have this bracket. I'm sure Illflem's 95 doesn't either.

So far I have never seen any springs attached to it. I don't see a purpose for it.

i have a pic of the bracket. if you want to see it, email me your address. i can't get it smaller than 32k bytes to post it here due to the size limitations. scott.
