I have a 95 CTD. The trans between 2nd and 3rd slips. The trans was hunting up and down in 3rd and OD. I tried to clean the TPS, guessing at what I was doing. Used contact cleaner, put it back together. The hunting went away but now it slips about 300 - 400 RPM before it drops into gear. Any suggestions and how do you clean the TPS? I am goin away Thanksgiving and would like to try to fix this problem before towing my 5th wheel.

Thanks for any help or suggestions before I have to purchase a new TPS.

You have a 47RH transmission in your '95. Later models have a 47RE. No electronics involved in yours until you AFTER get into 3rd. Then the TPS helps regulate the 3-4 shift and torque convertor lock up. For a 2-3 shift problem the TPS is NOT involved in a 47RH.

The first thing to try is to adjust the bands. If the band is too loose it will let go before the clutches grab which appears to be a slip.

If that doesn't help then you may have pressure problems.

The thing you REALLY need is a Dodge service manual for your truck.
