:{ Well after 175,000 pluss miles on the stock original TPS I think I will have to replace it. I have tried the wire removal from the loom and the hosing down of the TPS with contact cleaner and it is still going in and out of lock up (torque converter). When I hose it down with contact cleaner it works normal for about 30 minutes and then starts the old in and out of lock up dance. I have a the full DTT trans and torque converter done by Bill hissself. This was done about 80,000 miles ago. My question is who has the best buy on a TPS. Thanks in advance.

Dave GArdner.

Don't just hose it down with cleaner, open it up and clean it! Not hard to do, I just did mine again. It is still in good shape inside, just had grease on the contact rings. I now have a small hole top and bottom, to let me spray it out on truck. I just reseal holes when done.

I drilled two holes on the back side of the TPS. This allows the cleaner to get inside. I then use some compressed air to blow it out. This works, but it seems to reoccur about 4-6 months later. I keep a spare with me to change out if it happens while out on the road. Running the TPS wires outside the loom did not solve my problems.

Carls idea sounds better than mine. He does't have to take his off to clean it.

Put a 1000ohm resistor in transmission temp sensor plug to check operation. It tells the computer the transmission is at operating temp. Also check the brake light switch. If out of adjust or loose it will cause lockup dropout.
