Not sure if this is the right forum to post this:)

Anyone have instructions on how to install a switch that would disable the lockup feature of the TQ but still use overdrive?

Reason being I spend 95% of my driving in city stop & go traffic. I normally just leave the overdrive botton on, crusing speed between lights gets up to about 40-45mph. At these speeds I think it would be nice to use overdrive, just not let the TQ go into lock as well.

Any Thoughts?

Thanks,

Mac

Put in a three positiion "on-off-on" switch. It has three terminals. Go to your PCM (on the pass side firewall behind the air cleaner) , and find the orange wire with the black stripe (#54 cavity. Cut the wire, and run one end to an end term of the switch, and the other end to the center term. Ground the other end term. A good place to mount the switch is about an inch below your turn sig. lever.

When the switch is all the way back, your truck is stock. When it's in the middle, the TC is turned off & will not lock up. Start out each time with the switch centered, when you are at about 45 mhp, & ready for lock up, move it forward, and lockup will occur. When slowing or stopping & down to about 1,000 rpm, move to center, & it unlocks. If OD is turned off, it works the same way in "D" or 3rd.
