I bought a trw (Federal-Mogul ) part #DS1413 same moog part# but it has lifetime warranty from ADVANCE AUTO PARTS for less than a ($100) HOPE THIS HELPS SOMEONE

Boy that's a good price! Almost sounds like they made a mistake.

From the November/December 2001 issue of

Repair Shop Product News.

Dodge track bar

An advanced, high-strength replacement track bar engineered to handle heavy lateral loads has been introduced by Moog Chassis Parts, the leading brand of steering and suspension components from Federal-Mogul Corp. The new track bar (Part Nos. DS1413 and DS1256) features a significantly larger socket that is ideally suited to the lateral loads encountered in 4-wheel drive and 2-wheel drive Dodge Rams. In many cases, the original equipment track bars-which feature a less robust ball socket-can experience excessive socket movement of more than . 080 inches of play, causing wheel shimmy and road wander.

This should really be in the 2nd gen forum so the 24 valve guys see it also

Just called my local Advance Auto Parts and gave him the DS1413 part # and he said "yes sir we have that front end drag link?" I said its a track bar for a Dodge Ram, and all he said was is show's up to me as a "front end drag link"

Just another name for it or what:confused:

Oh yeah only $100. 73 too! And when I decide to go buy it I can get it at dealer price if my buddy is working!Oo. :D

Take note of this!!

this was dropped off in the 12valve forum. you guys should take note fo these part numbers. this could save you over $100 for a new track bar :D

thanks, Mturner good find :D

Keeping this thread alive....

Thanks guys. This one alone will provide me with 4+ more TDR renewals.

PS, question on the steering stablizers out there. I can't find the thread I was looking for about them. Which one is everyone having good results with? Is it a replacement or axle mounted style?

Thanks illflem, I could not think of the name Heckethorn. When I first bought the truck at 62k, I took it for an alignment check on a lark. That's when I really first understood the track bar situation. The stock stabilizer was shot and they put an axle mount on saying it was the way to go. I can't tell who made it now and at 129k it's just hanging there.

I know this has probably been covered before. Is there any merit to changing and/or running both the stock and an axle mount?

DC seems to think there is a benefit to running dual steering stabilizers - the TSB to 'cure' shimmy adds a second stabilizer. IMO it's a band-aid to cover up what DC is too incompetent to fix. Do a search on my user name and understand why I feel this way.

Sory ORTRHRS but NAPA and Autozone both do not sell Federal-Mogul (moog or TRW)front end parts thay handel DANA brand!!!!

Both Napa and Autozone sell Moog Chassis Parts, a division of Federal-Mogul Corp. I b

Well that,s strange I work for Federal-Mogul and I know at this time we are not selling a single peace of Moog or TRW to NAPA or Auto-zone!!!!!!!!Oo. :--) :--) :--)

I'll bet a middleman is suppling them.

Well that could be Illflem, or they are Dana parts, because Dana and Moog use the same part numbers. Are you getting Moog boxes? If so we may have a trade problem hear with both NAPA and Auto-zone!!!!!.

I will look tonight when I get home to double check. I am pretty sure the box said Federal-Mogul on the label.

I was at NAPA for something else and asked about the shock. They had one made by Monroe so I figured what the heck. I picked up that one. New track bar, new stabilizer shock- other drivers won't think I am drunk for a while now. By the way, that tapered shock bolt on the tie rod was a real challenge to get out.
