2nd Gen Non-Engine/Transmission Track Bar dead

Never thought it would happen to me- no towing, mild off road, mostly highway. Noticed a vibration at 60+ coming up through steering wheel- reputable alignment shop in town diagnosed dead track bar and steering stabilizer. Stabilizer was aftermarket Skyjacker unit. They ordered NAPA track bar- he says he gets less complaints on those- put new spare up front and new LTX as well. Fronts had good tread left but one got pretty cut up on curb so I had to bite the bullet. All in all better but I guess I will establish a track bar fund. 34,000 miles- took delivery Dec 20th 2001- should definitely last longer. I think two or three violent death wobbles some time ago maybe started it going. I fixed that but damage was already done I guess.

I've personally felt the Napa bar is the best way to go, hard to beat a lifetime warranty. That is assuming they still come with the warranty, did they tell you?

Look into Lukes Link. Really, I was a bit skeptical at first. Baught one and it layed in the shop for a month. Until I could no longer fight the 96 4x4. I read the instructions and did exactally as they said. 35 minutes and all done. It has now been on there for a year and still fine. About the only thing that can go wrong is the urithane spring might, some time in the future, go flat. Then ten minutes and . 25cents and I'm back on the road.

Just put the Luke's Link on my '01 and am completely happy with it. I bought one to test the waters and now I'll fix the tie-rods when they fail.
