The Woodnetters forum has a tradition where people post a "gloat" where they got equipment or some doo-dad at a very low price. I thought' I'd try it here just to see what happens.
In Phoenix there's a place that sells odd lots of paint, as well as a few auto parts from closed stores and where the labels have parted company from the product. While buying a dented can of spar varnish, I saw what appeared to be a track bar on the shelf. So I went home, and measured the critical areas of the old OEM one I have leaning against the wall. On my way back to the store, I stopped at an ATM to get a fistful of money. Back at the odd lots store, I checked the measurements and by gawrsh, it is an exact Gen 2 track bar! No price on it though, so I took it to the check out and said that I thought I'd like to buy it, but couldn't find a price. "No problem," the owner said, "five bucks. " I managed not to drop my jaw and paid up! :-laf
