About your track bar

Do you think your new track bar would replace putting in the 2 inch leveling spacers? Did the track bar seem to level out the front end?

I have kore HD leveling kit. My track bars bushings are gone and need to replace it just wondering if it is worth the money over the oem one. or if there is a beter one out there.

I have the KORE HD Leveling also, I have been looking at the current available track bars and I am planning to go to and adjustable one,not just a stock replacement. From allI have read in many forums, it appears that those of us who have gone to using a leveling kit that included springs/shocks should have a track bar that is adjustable, so our suspension would operate properly. To add to my dilema of choice, I have the MagHytec front driveshaft cover, and my question to ALL of them has been about track bar clearance regarding the additional size of the MagHytek cover. So far, what little communication I have had returned from these manufacturers with regard to having asked them via e-mails, I am still undecided about purchasing any of them.

I do believe that all of the track bars that are available DO offer better bushings, and for that reason alone, changing from the stock bar to any of the aftermarket bars would be beneficial to the overall function of centering the axle properly which would certainly decrease the wear factors and premature failures of the bushings. Even vehicles without any suspension modifications have the same bushing issues.

The track bars from Defiant Truck Products, as well as Carli, are very well designed and manufactured, as well as being adjustable for varying lift kits. Paul, at Defiant, also has stellar customer service. I installed his track bar when my oem went bad at 55k. I also use his steering box stabilizer. Both are great products.

THANKS seafish for reminding me about the Defiant products, I will certainly take the time to contact Paul about the adjustable track bar. I have Paul's steering box stabalizer and the protection plate, they ARE great products. I also can say that he has excellent customer support.

Centering of front axle

Be careful about "centering" the axle. What is everybody centering their axle to, in-between the fenders? Thrust Angle is more important.

I did the Carli front end upgrade kit which included the track bar and adjusted it so the tires would be centered in the fenders which meant I had to make it as short as possible. While I did the upgrade I was enrolled in a Vocational College taking a suspension, brake and steering class and had access to a brand new Hunter 4 wheel computer laser alignment tool. What I found out was that by aligning the tires to center on the fenders I threw the thrust angle of the rear axle way off. The thrust angle is the alignment of the rear axle in relation to the front and by pulling my front axle to the left to "center" it I created an alignment problem in the rear because it hadn't moved. What I ended up with is about 4* of right thrust in the rear which made the truck want to go left. Back to the drawing board, I would rather have my truck track straight as an arrow, minimize tire wear and maximize mileage than have a centered front axle. What I did first was loosen the U bolts on the rear axle to cock the axle (thrust angle) as far left as possible then back on the rack. Better but far from perfect, next I adjusted the track bar till I got the thrust angle almost zeroed. It made a noticeable difference in tracking down the freeway. It still drifts slightly left due to the high pressure stabilizer always pushing it that way but way better than when it was centered in the fenders.
