First Post--Driveline Vibration and Noise

I started noticing this noise about a month ago, and lately it sounds louder and more often... it is a 'clunk' from the front end. I hear it when I turn in off the street up into a parking lot or any sort of bump while I have the wheels turned. I am thinking it might be the track bar bushings... any suggestions where to start looking?

BCFAST, could be shock mounts or possibly the brake calipers rattling? does it happen to both sides or one side? or while turning both ways or just to one side?

I've heard alot of people having a shock bolt come loose. I checked mine after I recieved the truck just as a precaution.

Another recent experience is the Front Axle UJoints. Drivers side not bad, pass side was trashed. 3 of the 4 caps did not have any needle bearing left. The thing was just hammering itself.

BCFAST:

I just had the same thing happen to my
96' with 120,000 miles on it. So far the
entire front suspension is still all
original. My "clunking" is coming from
the lower right front wheel ball joint!
I had my Dodge dealership do a COMPLETE
inspection with me watching and you
would not believe how loose it is! My
upper and lower control arms are also
worn out. I am going to replace
EVERYTHING since I am planning on
keeping the truck for a long time!

Hope this helps you!

BCFAST,
I too had been noticing a "slight clunk" thru the steering wheel over the last month. Today it seemd to be realy noticable. When I got home I left the truck running in the garage and had my daughter turn the wheel back and forth while I looked at all the linkage. I could see the track bar moving where it mounts to the bracket on the frame. The drag link had the same problem where it mounts to the pittman arm. I use to get 150k out of the 2 fords that I had before I would have these problems and the '94 didn't have very many zerks either. Good luck.

when i bought my truck used with 50,000 on it, it had a clunk in the front end. checked and replaced the trac bar and the clunk was gone. only made the noise while turning too.
