I don't know about online.

Check Dave Fritz' Ram tech page, there is a link from TDR in the Links section under members web pages. He has a section on tracking an ordered Ram. There is an 800 number, and have the last eight digits of the VIN, or have the VON (vehicle order number) handy.

DDB,

Once you get a VON/VIN you can call the Dodge 800# and they can tell you the status of your truck. Once your truck leaves the plant they can give you a rail car number. For us eastcoast folks the trucks are shipped via auto carrier from the factory to a railhead and loaded on Union Pacific. UP will hand off the cars to CSX for shipment this way. UP has web tracking, CSX has an 800#.

Once you get either a VON or a VIN you can trace through Dodge. After shipment you can trace hourly on the RailRoad web site. Fritz page has all the rail sites and the Dodge code letters. Had a good time tracing mine, especially after they shipped.

Good luck.

Any railcar trace site should be able to find any railcar anywhere in North America.

For you Philly region folks, when the railcar location is Twin Oaks, call the dealer and have him put a rush on it.

My buddy checked through Chrysler today on his truck with the VIN number and they said that it hasnt been built yet, it was scheduled to built on Jan 4th and it supposed to be "scheduled" to be built, is this common?

DieselDodgeboy:
If Jan. 4 was your date, it still may be a few days longer before they start building it. I think with mine they said it could be within 10 days of the build date (I don't remember the exact amount of time). Mine missed the scheduled build date, but not by too much. I also found that their state of the art order tracking system doesn't get updated like you would hope. Theoretically, they should be able to tell you at any given moment where it is on the line (frame, engine, paint, etc... ). It doesn't work that way, though, because they don't update it constantly. Mine was scheduled for a certain day. When I called the day after that, they said it would be another week before it would be started. 2 Days later they told me it was in shipped status - so it was actually being built the day they told me it would be another week. (It takes about 2 days to actually build it. ) I had my truck a few days later. #ad

One more thing - cross your fingers that your truck doesn't get pulled off to the side after it's built for one of their radom quality checks. That can tie it up for a couple of weeks. #ad
The waiting can be a killer, but you'll eventually have it - then look out!
Good Luck!

Dave,
sounds good, thanks for the info, my friend is getting so anxious I think he was starting to get a little paranoid.

Diesel:
I found my notes from my 800 number phone calls.
2/17: Ordered truck from dealer
3/23: D1 status (scheduled to be built)
3/27: D1, est. ship date - 4/15
3/30: D1, est. ship date - 4/11, est. ship time - 4 days
4/7: D1, takes 2 days to build, 4-5 days shipping time
4/10: Truck will be built week of April 17th
4/13: Truck was built on 4/10 and 4/11!
4/14: Truck was taken to truckyard on 4/12, don't know if it's loaded yet.
4/15: Dealer calls - Truck is on the lot!!!
4/17: Take delivery!!! It's finally mine (or at least the bank's)!

As you can see, the info is often disjointed, but it's fun tracking it. Have fun!

Update: My friend just checked and my truck is being painted today and is supposively being built in St Louis, after talking to the dealer it sounds like this is the best scenario as far as him getting it quicker, woo hoo.
