Climbing hills in the Sierra foothills, loose road surface, I get a LOT of axel 'tromp'. Is there a traction aid that doesn't hurt flex or ground clearance?

Thanks,

Mickey

If your talking about axle wrap or wheel hop the method i used to remedy the problem I had in deep beach sand was a set of Hellwig traction springs which are like a half leaf spring that mounts on the front half of your leaf springs to stiffen them up, and I removed the factory spacers(three small pieces of leaf spring about 3"X6")from between the leaf springs and axle mount pad. this brought the axle closer to the leafs lessening the leverge or wrap. So far i have not had a problem since.

CarlsonR and RPosey,

Thank you both for the response! Last weekend I left it in 2WD and I'm sure that aggrivated the situation. I am going to try the Hellwig traction springs... I had already removed the 1/2" rear spring spacer when I replaced the stock overload with a mini-pac.

I have my loose covered uphill road marked on my GPS so I will try a re-test with the traction spring and report out on what I observe.
