Howdy,

I've got 10k on a 01 Quad w/ a 6 speed and have been trying to sort out all the info on performance upgrades. One of the problems I see, is how to keep the wheels from spinning? I spend alot of time on non paved roads. Letting the clutch out now, on a slippery surface, leaves me with spinning tires, and that's without touching the fuel pedal! How will any performance upgrade effect the traction?
TIA

Welcome aboard Frank,
You must work in muddy conditions. If your spinning tires now you will be really spinning tires with any power upgrade.
My last truck was a '97 5spd and I put in a TST fuel plate. hauling with a load was the main reason for my power upgrade. It made passing and going up hills a breaze.

good luck

Frankster, it's all about driving with due caution when your "bombed". My truck is still very controllable in the snow with the existing mods. , as long as I use common sense while accelerating. Just dumping the clutch in slippery conditions and from a start will spin the tires whether you have performance upgrades or not. Once the tires grab put the power on slowly and you won't have a problem.

Start using 1st gear more often and don't dump the clutch pedal.

run a search on steve St Laurents posts. He had some ladder bars made and says they really helped. I rode in the truck on sat adn can testify it hooks up really well. The bars are really neat looking too.
