In checking around for traction bars over the last couple of days I came across RCD (Race Car Dynamics, Inc) suspension products and they have a very cool traction bar. Right now they only have them for GMC & Ford but expect to have them available for 3/4T Ram trucks in 3-4 months. The produce all of their stuff inhouse and strive for cut-above-average quality.



I think if there is some interest we may be able to prod them to expedite development a bit. I told them the TDR is a pretty big crowd and there may be a few folks interested.

vaughn . looks interesting , hard to tell how it mounts .



i was looking under my truck the other day , thinking of making a set of slapper bars for mine but i really need something that is sort of hidden , or at least tucks up . .
 
i have been procrastinating for a year now on doing traction bars. I will definitely go for Steve's bars after looking at all the options.



I thing they would fit you needs john as they are really not very visible.



These trucks get rap like nothing I have ever experienced.

ted don't i know it , i figure its probably worth . 1 off the starting line .



only think that keeps me from the SS bars , is welding on the rear .



think i'm going to call rancho in the morning , think i might be able to use theirs .
 
Yeah John the Ranchos look really easy to install but with your racing and HP having them on the bottom of the axle might cause them to fail on you. I was told some stories when I asked the board about them this fall. It would be different for some one that towed or was a daily driver but I have seen you drive. ;) The welding on the axle has held me back as well but I figure when I make the plung I will do it once. Plug welding is funOo.



Anything would be better than stock

Don't go with the Ranchos, I just installed a set and they don't cut it when it comes to controlling axle hop in the sand. As soon as I installed mine I went out in some soft stuff and as soon as I had to throttle it a bit to plow through it juddered like mad. The problem with the Ranchos is they don't have heim joints to allow axle articulation over uneven surfaces and as a result they set them up with soft bushings. Soft bushings + Cummins Torque = too much deflection and resulting axle hop.



Others have them and say they work good. It could be the dynamics of my 2-wheel drive are different with how torque is applied to the springs & bars, I donno. Or maybe others have never challenged them to soft sand or anything to really try them.



To finish my sad story the bolt heads of my swaybar attachment points rubbed on the bars & scratched them up so looks like I bought 'em. :mad:

Guys . . on the four wheel disk trucks... watch very close how you weld them [axel end] in or you will have a very bad issue removing them for any reason... the bolt head will not clear / room to get it in & out and Steve's instructions don't take this into account as he didn't have a 4 wheel disk truck in the R &D

JUST A HEADS UP...

other than that these are the best I've used or seen in all my hot rod and racing years, they fixed the dually issue in snow !
