Just wondering if anyone knows of a set of traction bars available for the 3rd gens. With my 6inch lift and 37's I have a lot of problems with axle wrap. Thanks for the help

LsFarm (Greg Long) Great Lakes Diesel makes a good set of bars at a reasonable price. I just preferred to go the cheaper route and had mine welded up by some friends. :-laf Yeah there stocky... ... but they won't bend. :-laf

Hate to sound dumb but what and why would we need traction bars on the new 05 and how much it coast the price?

Does anyone know if Kwikspool is around? I have heard that he has bars for the 3rd gens, but I have emailed him with no response.

Traction bars are linkages that stop the axle from pivoting and wrapping up the springs.

I didn't have any problems till I installed my liftkit, the lift blocks in the rear are just like a big cheater bar and make the spring wrap terrible.

Keep in mind that most traction bars work by creating suspension bind, and your ride may suffer.

I'd have a set of springs made to replace those blocks. That'd make a huge difference. You can have them install an overload spring that will help control the wrap.

I have a set of kwikspools on mine.

They are great pulling and driving.

Ride is little stiffer, but nothing to complain about. My troubles with take off vibrations are gone. The tractions bars and added spacers to the carrier bearing helped out alot.

I will eventually make a larger set that run up under the cab like got smokey's.

Closest boxed section of frame we could weld to since us redneck boys don't have fancy smancy brackets to bolt to the frame. :-laf

Check out Hellwig traction control springs from JC Whitney. These cost $80 for 3/4 ton trucks. They don't change the spring rate, don't hang down to catch on rocks, don't bind or limit suspension travel, don't require welding and add so little to your unsprung weight, you'll never know the difference.

I had horrible wheel hop unloaded or loaded in deep sand. Had to use 4x4 where it shouldn't be needed. After I installed these, I can drive through deep sand unloaded in 2 wheel drive easily. They work especially well climbing cut banks. I highly recommend them.

These springs work by resisting the tendency for the front of the leaf spring pack to bend upwards when the axle twists. They are installed with the suspension at full droop so they are preloaded. I can't tell you how much difference these things make. They should be installed at the factory as part of the "off road" option.

Spendy!!!!! I might go with set that mounts to the front eye of the spring so I don;t have the frame attachment problems. I can get those made for like 400 bucks!

those things better wash and wax the truck once a week for that price... . wonder how far down they hang also... . 1400 bux ya better be getting a TON of steel... .

I may, no I will try a set of those at the catalog price of only $ 80. 00 per pair you can't hardly go wrong. I had the same problem with Wheel Hop / Axel Wrap when we went to the Outer Banks for vacation. Aired down to 20 Lbs. and the first time I got into the Sugar Sand going over the Dunes I thought the back end turned into a pogo stick. I said to the the wife this is the worst 4 wheeler I ever had on the sand, I need Traction Bars & Bigger Tires! ;) ;) ;)

Question..... when you say they are installed with the suspension at full droop how did you acheive "full droop" ??

Actually she said yeah when I am following your truck the tires look really skinny, you do need BIGGER tires !!! :) :)

Gotta' love that woman !! :D :D :D

Sure sign of a keeper! LOL

Mine's been hearing me talk about my occasional DW, & what I'm working thru to try & resolve it. Since she's never experienced it, I took her out for a ride last night. What a ride. She's a believer & totally understands me now. :)
