Diesel truck pull in Springfield Mo area

MWTDR Campout (DesMoines-Omaha-KC)

Josh;

Give Mike Adams a call. He's at pulls most every weekend. Last weekend was Perham & Sauk Rapids. He retired Too-Tuff this year and bought <strike>Green Machine</strike> Mean Green

One of the biggest in my area is in Grand Forks on September 11th at River Cities Speedway

I posted the Osceola pull in Competition forum, for those of you who are interested, let me know. It actually a great pulling event, fun for the whole family with the fair going on at the same place, entry fee is only 20 bucks.

Alright, there is a pull this Thursday night. Benton County Fair in St. Cloud. It is weird 'cause the sheet says engines must be naturally aspirated, but then when I called the guy, he said that part was just for the gas engines. I can see this turning into a problem, but it should be interesting!

Anyway:

Street legal class: Need body and whatnot, max 33x12. 50 tires, no traction ladder bars, max 2 changes to improve performance, 6500 lbs and under with driver.

Heavy: 6501 to 9000 lbs, no mod limit listed

Soooooo, I need to drop 340lbs to get to 6500. I am going to call to see if seats taken out count as a performance mod (it's kind of like detuning though, isn't it? ).

My biggest problem is, I've never done this before! How are you guys launching with a 5-speed. I've got stock-size ProComp all-terrains, the mods listed below, and I finally figured out that pesky low boost problem. Any input is appreciated.

TIA

Will

Will,

I have the same truck as you, ie. quda sb. i once tried to make 6500. didnt happen that was with no seats at all, only 2 gals of fuel, no tail gate, no spare tire adn anything else on the truck even took off my nerf bars. came up shy by like 150 lbs or something. to anwser your question about luanching... ... . DONT LAUNCH you'll spin out. ease off the clutch just get rolling and then give her the berrys.

I'd probably take a whack at the mod class. You'd be supprised how well you'll do! I took 4th at the Buffalo pull against quite a few mods. Doldenburgs mod truck took first if I remember right. I got 4th. Out of the top 6 I was the only street driven truck.

So "launching" is probably the wrong word to use. From what I have read, 4Low, 3rd gear, around 2000rpms, roll into the clutch, and shut-er-down before 75 feet if it starts to hop. Sound about right?

I weighed my truck at 6640 with a 1/4 tank of full, usual junk in the back seat, but without me. I was thinking that the seats might weigh two hundred (back and passenger) and the spare tire at 60 pounds, and I'm still short 100 lbs! I don't think the tail gate is a hundred pounds. So maybe you are right. In that case, how do I hang my weight set off the front of the truck! :D

Josh, been lucky- havent brok anything yet. Billy I have seen ctds make 6500 stock class ,depends on the scale. if not you will have to co to the heavy weight class. st legal is a hole nuther class. if you have mods they can see(traction-ladder bars) thats where they will put you. I will have both my trucks there. see ya all there. Dave

Dave,

There isn't a single mod they can see other than the black smoke! Really, my truck is stock other than electronic boxes and the clutch. I still run the factory air cleaner and exhaust!

I think I am just going to run the heavy class. Loosing the weight to get into a different class won't make up for the lack of experience!

Looking forward to it nonetheless,

Will

Benton co fair

results- heavy class- Dodge ctd- Chevy isuzu-Chevy isuzu-Dodge ctd, thats all I remember as I got 4th. lost to 3rd by 1 in. and 2nd by 1 foot. 1st place ctd was around 295 ft. Dave

results of Potato Pulls

The track was hard & slightly wet. If you could hook it went well. Lots of smoked tires from spinning on the hard pan clay.

In the heavy street class Mike took honors. He even showed off by pulling one gear too high.

Super Stock and Open Modified classes, the lone CTD really sucked and Jody said the same. He toasted his good engine and ran the old engine. He beat himself ... . with a Ford gasser.

Typical carnage: smoked clutches, broken rear ends, broken transfer cases, wasted tires, ...

Took ½ hour to get a Ford off the sled when his driveline froze. Ford stopped, sled did not.
