Anyone know of any tractor pulls taking place in Texas? I went to my first (and last) tractor pull in Tallahassee 25 years ago and am feeling the need to let my wife experience one.

BTW: The best part of the tractor pull was a turbine powered tractor that could of pulled the sled into the next town. It was built by either Craig Breedlove or Art Aarfons (don't remember). Talk about black smoke? It would put a WW1 destroyer smoke screen to shame!

Landshark, there are only three that I know of. One in Whitewright, one in Witchita Falls, and one in Stevenville, all put on by the same people. The one in Whitewright is the only one of the three that I have been to and is the only one of the three that does not have a class for our trucks. The other two do (did) have a class for diesel. They are too far away for me to give it a shot.

We were talking about this the other day at work. They used to have them all the time in San Saba. They never do anymore, I don't know why they quit. I would like to take my wife to one as well. That does remind me of a funny story, though. My boss said when he was first getting started out years ago, he was a mechanic at a nearby Chevy dealership. This guy comes in and buys a brand new 350 conversion diesel #ad
Anyway, same day all the guys at the dealership on a whim decide to go to San Saba to the tractor pulls. Sure enough, as they are setting there at the tractor pulls, guess who shows up and hooks up. You got it, Mr. 350 conversion. Well, you don't have to be psycic to guess what happens next. The ol' 5. 7 barely budges the sled and blows up. Next day they're all at work just waiting. Sure enough, here comes a wrecker with the pickup in tow. The guy is like, "Uh, I was just driving down the road and it blew up. " They were all like, "NO you weren't, you were at the tractor pull, we saw you!" The guy's like, #ad
Uh, no, #ad
that wasn't me I was just driving it, really. BUSTED!

Well, I don't know about any coming up in Texas, or elsewhere for that matter. I went to several in the Los Angeles area in the mid 80's while in high school. Art Arfans (sp?) built the original Green Monster. and I've seen him in it at a few pulls in LA. Simply awesome #ad
His daughter was pulling in her own turbine tractor several years ago. Don't know if either are still at it though.

They have a show every year in the Astrodome, but I think that is mostly monster trucks and stuff. I have never been, but my brother has. I don't think you can really have a tractor pull INSIDE!

Take a look aT FULLPULL. COM by Photo Joe. He has most of the pulls in the country listed or has links to find them. There is a guy named Don Nelson from down in Texas with a modified that has a IH DT 466 super stock moter on alcohol and two v-8 moters on it. The 466 was built by Brett Long here in Missouri. That don is one crazy guy I one time watched him get hauled on to the track with a backhoe for a pull off because the lfrt front wheel was broke off. Nalied it and the front end never touched the ground till he shut it down at 300ft.

When I used to live on the west coast I attended several tractor pulls indoors and these were the BIG DOGS, with big earth mover tires and multiple engines, one of them blew the cieling tiles out of the arena with its upswept exhaust. Havnt found any here in Texas but sure would like to.

Hey Deezul,
There was one in Waco 2 weeks ago. Wife and I went on Saturday nite, it was at the HOT Colesium. They had 2 wheel drive trucks, super modified tractors, and a couple of the Super Stock tractors. They put on a pretty good show, it was the first time in several years they had it. We used to go all the time when they had the pulls there, but it had been a while. Good to see em come back.

Deezul,
I get up to Waco fairly often, more to do there than in Temple. I'd like to see a group get together in Central Texas, too. I know there's lots of Dodges here in my area, there oughta be enough of us to have a good time.

hey deezul... how do you know your friend from gatesville will come?? #ad
NO, I'd be happy to get a chapter in central texas started..... there are alot of dodges around these parts. I also pass right by rosebud-lott on my way back from school... . always happy to meet a fellow TDR member.

Deezul,
Right now I'm pretty flexible, if it ever dries up I'll be pretty busy trying to plant corn. Just let me know and I'll see if it works for me. I'd like to see this get started.
