CV axle mystery

Starting issue

Was wanting to go from a keyed 3 prong switch to a push to start button starting the tractor

Can it be done without wire splicing, I rather not butcher the new wiring loom that was installed.

I suspect you may need an on/off switch for the ignition/electrics/starter in addition to the momentary contact switch to activate the starter relay. (You likely want the starter button to be unpowered when the main switch is off; it' could be painful if it's off and in gear and someone accidentally hits the starter switch.)

If the existing switch uses standard spade connectors, it should be fairly easy to connect to them; you might even be able to find a connector that the spade terminal would plug into (so you don't have loose wires flopping about that need to be insulated).

Hmmm. You might even put the push-button starter switch in series with the switched power of the existing key switch. That should be just a couple spade connectors.

You brought the point of starting in gear, the tractor in question has a neutral safety switch that makes it impossible to start unless both the High/LOW & GEAR slectors are in the neutral position. Im starting to think this is a bit much to do, Im just tired of CHEAP switches that don't last

MF 135 I use it around the house because its small has power steering for maneuverability. AG3 152 its the gas model if makes a difference.

Are the terminals on your harness at the switch ring terminal or spade push on??

Also is the hole in the dash round or does it have a flat spot, key notch, etc. to keep it from turning in the dash...

Ok, so 3 wires means this to me...

One battery power
One to ignition
One to starter

Attach battery power wire to "BAT" terminal on new switch

Attach ignition power wire to one of the four "IGN" terminals on new switch

Make a jumper wire with female spades on each end, attach one end to one of the remaining three "IGN" terminals on new switch, attach the other end to one of the two terminals on your new starter button..

Attach the remaining starter wire to the other terminal on the starter button...

Starter button will only work with the key on...

Just to give you an idea what to look for when you go to the parts store...

Thanks Mike I'll need to get a switch like that , Tractor supply carries a limited supply MOSTLY FORD & Allis. Im sure the NAPA guy has one its about the only real parts store we have.

$22.00 bucks  through Amazon for the switch, need to eventually get to a parts store in town that deals with more of the industrial side of mechanical things for some of their weather proof (NOT RESISTANT) Electrical connections.
