Well I have seen some pretty fast older Neons but If and when I get wooped I'll deal with it. I think one of the guys on here said that its easy to win when you are the only one racing. My wife wipped me with her Overland when she caught me sleeping. It took five gears to catch her. The all wheel drive is VERY hard on the clutch if launched hard. You can't even get it to spin in the rain. Front helical gear and rear mechaical locker is hard to beat for traction. I have to admit that I enjoy the power with out all the noise. Every chance I get I love to mess with the bumble muffler cars. They usually just look straight ahead, kinda like me when I am setting next to a bad Vette ;) Its a fun ride but it isn't a Viper. I cant't drive a viper or a vette to my favorite hiking trail.

Thats a nice car but I dont understand the trade here. I guess if this car meets your needs then you didnt need a CTD anyway. I would love to have that subaru AND my CTD. That subaru isnt going to help much when I'm camping or hunting so it surely isnt a replacement.

Well the main reason that I had the diesel is that I need a truck. If you are going to have a truck you might as well have a diesel since it gets better milleage than a half ton. I really got tired of the goofy looking cab part of the dodge. Love it from the windsheild foreward. I have a couple of dirt bikes and haul quite a building material for my house so right now I really need a truck. If and when I get another I will get a six speed instead of the auto. I still had my 91 CTD plow truck but I went and sold it too. I don't think I can afford a new truck and the STI so I'll find me an older one. It is just a great car to drive and those LITTLE cars are much bigger inside than my 70 challenger was. My wife has a GRand Cherokee Overland so when we go camping we will take it and it pulls a trailer just fine for the bikes and the lumber.

Wait till he wakes up and see what he has done/

Better go and see a doctor and get some help, fellow you need it. We all do strange things like I got married. 45 years of good food, someone that does everyday foe me. Think I am going to give that up. No way. Same with my cummins :D Just pulling your chain but you will be back?

I have done quite a bit with subarus. if yo uplan on adding anything look into aps products. I did some work with a friend who owns www.xxtuning.com and I think his wrx made borderline 600hp

I think that MIGHT void my warranty but I will keep the sight. That would be a fun ride!

Oh heck ya. I'm still strying to find a CHEAP 2nd gen 6 speed. I have had an 02 CTD, 04 CTD-chrysler drone buy back and the 05. It is still my opinion that an Atlantic Blue 02 shotie quad (my first diesel truck) is the most beautiful thing ever made. A dark colored Mega cab is second. If Dodge would add four inches to the back door of the cab on the 03 thru 07 I would think they would look great.

I am guilty of the same deed, but I am looking for truck, once I retire and settle into a regular work schedule.

"What can you say about a car that will zero to sixty in 4. 5 seconds, run a 13. 2 quarter, gets 24 on the highway and can be driven in fairly heavy snow. " My wifes 2006 Acura RL does a pretty fine job of it!!!!

I once got to ride in an STI that a buddy owns, he was going around corners faster that I thought possible. Heck he even put the STI into a 4 wheel slide on dry pavment. We basically did a u turn at 50 mph. The next day we went to the drag strip, I took him off the line in 4x4 and beat him by . 20. It was the first time at the track. Now I have bigger sticks and he has 5 lbs more boost, its going to be close.

I don't blame you a bit for getting one, one fun ride.

If you want to buy semi american, look at the 300C AWD with the Hemi. Its very fast and once the aftermarket catches up it will be insane.

I am sorry to say that I traded my 05 2500 Big Horn fro a 2006 Subaru WrX STI. I am also sorry to say that although I loved the truck, I don't really miss the truck. Two weeks ago I sold my 91 CTD snow plow truck so Now I have no doges in the drive, bummer. I am sorry that I bought a Japanese car but there is no American Made auto in this class. All I can say is that my STI is quite possibly the funnest and baddest all round vehicle I have ever owned. It is an amazing vehicle. What can you say about a car that will zero to sixty in 4. 5 seconds, run a 13. 2 quarter, gets 24 on the highway and can be driven in fairly heavy snow. I have managed to keep it under 130 so far. I am going to buy an older Dakota this weekend but most likely will end up with a MEGA cab sooner or later. David L.

Just curious if you don't mind me asking, What kind of hit did you take on insurance?

It actually went down $1 a month. I am 40 years old and haven't had a ticket since Dec. of 98. That is with the same decuctable as my 05 CTD. I was pretty worried about the insurance. I've been through hell with tickets insurance and revocations. I was caught doing 138 in a 55 (I think they called it,"speed beyond reason) in my 68 gts 383 Dart many years ago and have had some bad run ins since. I just developed a very good eye and have gotten very lucky over the years. I am pretty selective and very safe on the way to work ;) Jungledave is a nickname I got from freinds in the gym for being a nut, just haveing fun and breaking stuff. I used to have a lot of fun now, everything is against the law.

Dave, sorta reminds me of the unspoken dialog I've engaged in a few times.

Him: "Sir, do you know how fast you were going?"

Me- (silently to myself): "No the question, is do you know how fast I was going!"

I have responded with "I have no idea sir". And have gotten off once. And another time with basic speed violation which I took to court and won.

But these were for 10 or 15 over. I have never gotten pulled over while over 140mph in my old TT.

Heh, just last Saturday I got pulled over for taking a left and turn sideways. Light turned green, I dropped the clutch in 3rd and off I went.

Buddy 2-wayed and notified me of the cop that blew though the red light. pulled me over and I was honest of what I did was stupid, but he didn't have proof of what I did. All I said was "Sir, I was honestly just being stupid" Never said, yeah, these tucks drift well... . Got of free on that one.

Well I once got a ticket in Osage City. Kansas for doing a U-turn at 3:00 in the morning(real heavy traffic there population of 5) I was actually pulling into a parking space to my left and told the cop that a U-turn is a 180 degree turn not a 90 degree. He had a sence of humor about as high as his I. Q. It was well worth the laugh. The bad thing about the 138 in a 55 is that a cop from Burlingame ,KS. by the name of Donnie Parker recked during the chase and that looked real bad after they (Osage County Cops) falsafied the police report; they never caught me until several hours later in another vehicle. I had to do thirty days right in the middle of the summer. That same local cop pulled me over several years later in my Warlock to tell me I had a taillight out so one of the county cops wouldn't. He really was a pretty good guy.

how does getting pulled over in another car prove you were in your WRX doing 138?

it doesnt he wasnt it the wrx in was in a 68 gts 383 Dart :) ..... on a different note how is the WRX doing?

Well sorry for the confusion. I was actually in a 70 Challenger for the u-turn incident: that was 1988. That 70 Cahllenger had a slant six in. :{ It has passed form owner to owner and that same challenger is now a 10 second car. Topeka has a LOT of fast cars.

The WRX is running great. It really likes 50 degree temps. Like I said before it is a real hoot to cruise in. It has an adjustable shift light with a warning beep on the tach that could be a lot louder. Its hard to watch for the light sometimes. I think that that is my only real complaint. Pretty trivial I guess. It really pulls hard on cool Colorado mornings!! The STIs come with a lot of race stuff as standard..... except a boost guage.
