I have a 98 12v'r dually with 3. 50s and 75% of the time I'm running an 11: cabover and pulling a trailer with my EBronco on it. With 235s (biggest I can get with the dually) I run about 1600-1700 rpms at about 65. I've often thought about swaping out the 3. 50s for the 4. 10. Heck my Bronco has 5. 13s behind an aod. Now that's sweeeeeeeeet!! I can pass almost any Bronco on the freeway or out crawl them on the trail. Almost that is.

I live in Southern California and I'm still thinking about the swap. And mine is a 4x4 if that makes any difference.

I wound up buying a complete used 3. 54 LSD & swapping out my 4. 10's. I used car-part.com to buy mine & sold the 4. 10 rear on ebay(the puller guys are looking for them!) for about the same money. It cost me about $50 total & I love the change in the truck even towing my 30' TT. It's much quieter cruising, I can get across the intersection quicker & OD is actually OD now. I do have to shift more often pulling the trailer, before I could go as slow as 45 without down shifting, now I drop to 4th if I need to accelerate much below 55.

If I towed heavy on a regular basis I'd drop the tires size back down to 245's, but I don't think I'd ever go back to 4. 10's.

My mileage was good before, but it has picked up 1 - 2 mpg empty depending on how/where I drive. Loaded mpg seems about the same, but the gulf coast wind makes it hard to compare apples to apples with a TT.
