****Let's RACE Houston****

Dyno Days Convoy at Waco

That's right. . There will be a Trail Ride / Color Tour and Camp Out in Michigan's Upper Peninsula in the Fall of 2002, right in the peak color time.

Paul Herioux, a GLTDR member and Yooper resident has put together a plan for a weekend of trail riding, mud bogging, hill climbing and camping in the colorful forests, near Marquette, in Gwinn, MI. The event will take place during the weekend of September 21. Get your reservations in soon. I have checked the web and noticed that there are other campgrounds nearby, so if we fill the one that Paul has made arrangements for we can spill into another one.

This is not only for the 4x4 guys. There will be activities for 2x4 guys too, and I'm sure the 4x4 guys will be happy to take the 2x4 guys along on the rides in the rough.

so sent them a fax instead. we shall see if i get a reply

anyone from around the green bay/Appleton area going?

am trying to figure how long will it take from green bay .

we plan on leaving egg harbor early am[7 or 8 am]were 1 hour out of green bay.

am going to use this as a shake down prior to heading for Baja in January

any one else coming out of this area?

Keep trying jgil104. . Mrs Doc has been calling them since Saturday. Maybe they will be there on Monday? :)

BillH made reservations last week, so the number must be right. Maybe they went camping for the weekend :)

Doc

I'm there for sure, the U. P. is a great place, and I'm definatly lookin' forward to camping in the nice COOL weather of September in the north country!Oo.

Later, Rob

You should be able to get hold of the campground on Monday as the phone number rings into the local county or township office.

jgil104, it normally takes me 2 1/4 hours to drive to Green Bay, 2 even if I'm in a hurry. Campground is 35 minutes north of my house, so figure 3 hours with a trailer in tow. I believe the shortest route would be to grab 35 at Menominee and follow the lakeshore up through Escanaba and hang a left in Gladstone.

See Ya in September.

camp out

well doc this has now turned into a quest . wife called this am she got the maintenace shop in gwinn was told call later ,she did got answering machine . i called at 1600 got same answering machine

i am determined to reserve a camp site :] for the weekend of 9/21/02

any words of wit & wisdom ?

Mrs Doc managed to get through on Monday and made our reservations. I think it's the luck of the draw getting through to them. It is a government office, and it is in the UP so keep trying and maybe you'll catch someone before or after they're "Gone Fishing" :)

Doc

I'll have to keep this outting in mind. My family has a cottage (camp) outside of Gwinn. I've got lots of miles on the Sands Plains trails. It's a nice ride from Gwinn to Negaunee... :D

Looks like we'll have a good group. Paul, are there any strip mines in the area that we can tour? I'd like to see some big machinery, if there is any.

Doc

mines

We don't do strip mines up here Doc but there are a couple of large iron mines in the area. I'll see if I can get hold of someone at Cleveland-Cliffs to arrange something. Their facility west of Marquette boasts the highest and lowest points in Michigan within a mile of each other.

See ya all in September.

time to bring this back to the surface

as my roof repairs are done

now ready to get under way

as an after thought we are headed for the baja in jan03 is there any one else going that way ?

if so lets talk if you are

Three weeks to go

Just thought I would bring this to the top as there is only three weeks left till the mud slinging begins.

Hopefully my truck will be back in pulling/mudding condition before the 21st gets here. I blew out both rear wheel cylinders during a panic stop last week. Am waiting for the brackets to come back from the machine shop for the rear disc brake conversion.

I was planning on making a mapping run on Monday but with the truck out of commission this isn't going to happen. Are any of you that have mentioned being familiar with the Sand Plains area willing to be tour guides? Please e-mail me if you are. If no response I will figure something out.

See ya all in 3 weeks.

I was really hoping to be able to make this one guys. But it looks like my shoulder isn't going to be anywhere near ready for a trip like that in 3 weeks. I'll have just gotten into physical therapy the week before and I'm sure they'll have me writhing in pain. Grrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrr.
