Trailer awning

Recently had a new awning installed and noticed that it wasnt quite even on both sides when rolled up evenly.



Other than having to re-extend and roll-up a 2nd time to get a even roll, is this significant?

One side is equal or just lightly below the gutter mount (where the fabric attaches) and looks like it will drain. The other side is clearly higher than the fabric and could channel water back toward the camper?

Usually there is no worry even if it puddles back toward the camper because it will eventually drain. as long as the rail is sealed there is no problem. Usually if there is water pooled, once you roll up the awning, the fabric saggs and the water runs off... this happens with my slideout awning as well.



You could make sure you get off-level on the rig first then roll up. . makes the water drain off...

Just make sure it has a way to lock the arms when towing. I have seen many awnings laying along the side of the highway. Every one I have owned has locks on the arms to lock the arms together when closed, but my Dads and Brothers don't have them. They both put velcro ties around them for safety.

I think what happens is people close the awning, then move the switch to the "open" position, then drive down the highway. The wind catches the awning and it slowly opens until all of a sudden it opens like a sail and rips everything off the side of the RV.
