Trailer Brake box Question

My father in-law purchased a new 2010 1/2 ton 4x4 HEMI Ram. He really did not need a Cummins. ( I TRIED ) He discovered the trailer brake controller companies do not have the wiring ready for a "plug and play" box. he has a box from his 2002 1/2 ton Dodge, and was hoping to reuse it.



My question to everyone is this:

1. has the wiring changed since 2002/2003 ? (Trailer brake controller )



2. If not why can't the controller box be plugged in to the trucks harness ( under the dash, and above the pedals ) just like my 2002 2500 Dodge Cummins

Does anyone know if the wiring harness plug-in is the same for a 2002 and the new 2010 ?

Has nobody reused their oler brake controller box in their new 2009 or 2010 RAM ?

I'm still driving an old 06 but the trailer brake wiring hasn't changed so the box should work. Did you get a pigtail harness with the truck? If the old harness will plug into the receprtacle in the truck then it should be good to go. Just my opinion for whatever it's worth. bg

Thanks guys, I have yet to see the truck as he won't drive it; with the weekly snow storms. ( His words ) But I will check for the pigtail.
