Hey Everyone,

I Recently purchased a 1999 2500CTD. This weekend I went to hook up a brake controller. The truck is equipped with the tow package, however it did not have the pigtails to hook the brake controller up. So I went and stole one from a Durango that belonged to a friends dad. The problem I have is the controller indicates that it is hooked up at all times. Does the Durango have a different plug that the Ram? I would assume not but you never know. Thanks for any Help that may be offered.

Im not sure about the plug wiring,if they are the same or not. Im assuming you mean the controller light comes on when ever you touch the brakes. This is normal. I may have the proper plug in my garage since I pulled my controller out of my 99 and plugged it into my 01.

Im having trouble putting my brake controller on too. I have the Hayes micro HD and the colors didn't match on that either. It seemed to work for a while but then seemed to quit. The brake lights would come on when the unit was manually activated for a while but not any more and i cant get anything out of it but 1 light. There don't seem to be good instructions with it at all.

The Controller I have is an Accutrack. It has a green light that is supposed to come on when it is hooked up to a trailer. Well that green light comes on all the time now. I do have it wired right, the second time around. I used to do truck accessories and Ford colors are the same as dodges and don't match up either. I am going to hook to a trailer tonight and see if they work or not. Thanks for the replys.

white is from stoplite switch. Ford colors are
white is grd,red is hot, blue goes to trlr brakes, greenis from stoplite switch. Don't know if Durango is the same. Hope this helps.

When I installed my Tekonsha Sentinel a couple weeks back I found that the wires on the harness were labeled. They were labeled just as Rapid Rick has them listed. No problems with the install or the brake controller.

Today I called Hayes-Lemmerz for some help on why my controller wasn't working. Turned out that at some point an arc had occured in the install and caused the microchip to shutdown. To reset, the unit needed only be disconnected for 30 sec. They were extremely helpful and were willing to go step by step with any install problems i may have had. No matter what opinions about their product people may have, their customer service is outstanding.
