Trailer brake problem or trucks' intergrated trailer brake problem?

The real problem with the factory controller is it pulls voltage out as your truck and trailer slow down. In theory it provides a smooth stop. Reality strikes when you're heading downhill to a intersection while towing heavy. Just as you need full braking at the intersection the computer lowers the available voltage and your trailer pushes you into traffic.

RAM should go buy defunct Max Brake and integrate it into the trucks. Max Brake controllers provide true seamless braking of the truck and trailer as a single unit. Shoulda coulda kept mine and installed the Prodigy that I had when I sold the 2001.5. SNOKING

The Brakesmart in my '05 was flawless. I have not towed heavy enough with this truck to notice any serious deficiency with the integrated controller.

I'm towing the 19000 GVWR 5th wheel in my signature and have experienced no problems whatsoever to date with the factory ITBC set for electric over hydraulic heavy with a gain setting of 6.0 to 6.5.

Try an emergency stop and see how that works!

Oh, I've done that in the 2011, and it handled it in exemplary fashion. The 2016 ITBC is head and shoulders above that on the 2011.
