hi all,

i am trying to add electric brakes to my utility trailer. i bought a set of 10" brakes from northern tool. my problem is how to wire in the brakes. there are 2 blue wires coming out of each. what do i do with these. do i take one and run it over to the other brake. and the second wire to the plug. i know i have to change out the 4- flat plug to a 6 round.

any help would be appreciated.

Essentially yes, a wire runs from the connector to the first coil; wire "A", then wire "B" of the first coil crosses over to the second coil. Wire "C" on the second coil is hooked to Wire "B" of the first coil. Last is wire "D" of the second coil, it runs up to the connector ground pin. A loop from the connector then coil 1, coil 2 and back to the connector.

The wire you use should be the same gage or larger than the blue wire attached to the coils, I would suggest larger as a safety factor. All connections should be soldered and sealed with heat shrink tubing, to seal out water.

DO NOT USE THE TRAILER COUPLER AS THE TRAILER GROUND. Use the correct electrical plug to ground the trailer. Here are some useful diagrams that will help.
