Thanks for all the help. TDR is a great. Yes I replaced the whole backing plate assy.

Going to hook up tomorrow, and do a few more checks. Again, thanks to all.

Well, made a trip to NC. and the brakes work too good. Had to turn down the

controller. I guess my gremlin got scared when he heard me say I was going

to have a thermal event. Knock on wood, everything is good, but... . why?

Just going to leave well enough alone.

Minor corrosion or just dust or dirt sometimes prevents good contact between the pins of the seven pin male and female connector and plug at the back of the truck. Squirting a shot of electrical contact cleaner into each or sometimes just removing the male plug, reinserting it, and "wobbling" it around with a firm grip will remove the insulators and provide good contact.
