Been hittin the lake quite a bit this year! Each time I stop for fuel or whatever, I do a walk around the truck and boat. Often times one of the brake lights on the trailer will be out. Simple fix, just walk up the the trailer wiring connector and give it a wiggle. Then lights fixed. That is until the next stop. Then another walk around and another short. Each time a simple wiggle of the connector fixes the problem. Question: Is there a simple fix? Remember I dunk this connector in the lake quite often when launching. Would dielectric grease give me some relief here?

Maybe you have some "extra" wear on those parts. Is there any way to make things fit tighter? I remember the old Berg plug-ins where I could take a screw driver and "spread" the ends inside the plug for a better connection.
 
I use dielectric grease on my trailer plug, and about everything else that plugs together on my truck. It can't hurt.



The problem could also be corrosion. I don't know of any miracle product that will remove it, but I do know that emory cloth or steel wool and some elbow grease will clean those contacts. You may need to use a rag and a screwdriver to clean the contacts in the plug itself.



Corrosion prevention is why I am liberal with the dielectric grease.
