trailer hitch

Ok, now that my hitch is on recall, #ad
I am contemplating installing a class IV reciever to upgrade the factory class III. Who makes the best hitch, what has anyone else had good luck with? thanks

Hey JEM, just got back form DC in Portland and had my recalled hitch upgraded. They checked for cracks and there were none. So they installed a new bracket towards the bumper on the frame on each side of the hitch. I really think this is going to "beef up" the hitch substantially. Having had mine fail last summer when my wife was rearended while towing her trailer, I can tell you the brackets were placed in the exact spot where the hitch failed. I was worried about the quality of the hitch from that point on, but seeing the upgrade has restored my faith in the factory hitch.

If you still want a Class 4 or 5, I believe Reese makes one of the best. I'll bet they have a direct bolt in unit for your truck.

Reese Titan Class V! All the hitch you will ever need. You can get a nice stinger setup that lets you tow with a camper loaded. One suggestion though: drill a 2" hole in the bumper to mount the electrical plug. The receiver mounting is so large that the stock adapter forces the wires to rub against the hitch which eventually causes a short.
