That is correct. Tire pressure should not be adjusted when loaded (other than to increase it because of underpressure). One of my main points was that the ambient temp went up 60 degrees due to loaction, thus the tires were overpressure before being loaded.
I had to air my tires down because the overload plus road heat raised pressures high enough to blow the tire over the bead and off of the rim. The sidewalls took the lower pressures without failure, and I prevented any more blowoffs.
I would not recommend anyone doing what I did, but I was stuck in the situation and did what I needed to get back home. I could only find one tire shop that even carried a 14. 5 tire, and they only had one 8 ply (I bought it as a spare).
