Hi All,

The other night we stopped for some refreshments at the local convenience store and as we were walking back to the truck and trailer I noticed that the truck and trailer marker lights were still on. The truck wasn't running and the key was in my pocket. Is this normal? Do the truck marker lights and trailer marker lights stay on all the time once the trailer is connected to the truck or do I have a problem? I don't recall the lights staying on in the past.

What's Going On??

TIA,

After the above, check for continuity between the 12v pin and the running lights, same between 12v and ground. Do this without it plugged into your truck. Then check the same on the truck side. Chance are something is shorting out between those wires and it is feeding 12v in all the time.

Thanks for the tips, I will check for shorts as soon as I return and report and report back.

I didn't hit the lock/unlock button and it had been about 7-10 minutes, the lights never went off. I noticed it as we walked into the store but just thought it was like the head lights and would go off after a brief delay.

Thanks Again-

Doing the above will only activate the "entry" feature on the truck only.....not the trailer lighting.

This is true unless the headlight switch is in manual mode. If the lights are turned "on" (vice auto or off, they will come on (including the trailer running lights) when anything wakes up the dash, on my truck anyway. If you leave them on in the manual mode they do eventually turn off in like 10 minutes if nothing wakes up the dash.

Well, I checked 12v to running lights and 12v to ground. All clear.

We have one section off road (2 way traffic) that head lights are mandatory. I had the truck in manual mode to comply.

Thanks once again,
