Went to the 5 scar dealership and the guy could not understand my question... ... ... Do not think he understands much of anything. . Anyway, does any of the learnered out there know if they (mopar) sell a replair/replacement loom for the 7 pin trailer connector. The loom side connector and some wires were damaged and was wondering if they sell a repair loom for just the last few feet of the total loom. Parts guy could not figure out what I was asking even with pictures!

Could repair it but would rather have a nice tight connection.

thanks

We live in Spokane where we see a lot of chemicals on the road in the winter... we've had more than one problem with our trucks and the trailer connector... .

When we have trouble we rewire it... . using an un insulated butt connector and a shrink tube with an adhesive in it... . like the shrink tube used on well casing's and wiring as its fully water proof...

Often we found one or more of the connectors with damage... we now wire them direct and use the shrink tube for what we think is the life of the truck repair... . to be honest, to do a neat job it usually takes a couple of hours to cut out the bad connections and wire in and seal the connections... .

I personally use a web sight... Del City - Wiring Products and Professional Electrical Supplies for the shrink tubing and connectors... . the tube comes in a 4 ft length, and we cut to length... .

We also run a custom 10 gauge wire from the battery to the trailer plug... we use a 30 amp fuse and tie both the in bed plug and the bumper plug into this wire... . we've found that we get up to 1/2 - 3/4 volt higher reading at the connector with this wire when the batteries in the trailer are charging... this of course is a batter with a better charge...

If your really interested in a factory wire set... . get a CD with the service and parts... or have someone here post the page for you on this sight... .

We've changed all our trailer lights to LED's so that the load is reduced and we don't damage the tiny wires in the factory loom. .

Hope this helps... its what we've done to give us something that functions for the life of the truck... .

follow what jelag said and you will be ok, while you are doing that it would be a good time to add a plug to the inside or the bed go to jcwhitney site and search pollak or polak get the dodge adapter , wiring harness and two plugs and 1 bracket if the truck plug is bad just splice the wires as jelag said. i like to fill the harness connections with electric grease to prevent water from entering to start corrosion
