Has anyone wired an additional trailer plug into the existing wiring harness on a 2008? What wires in the wiring harness do you use?:)

Norm

I just ordered a Valley Fifth Wheel in bed 7 pin extension for Dodge RAM with trailer wiring from etrailer.com (free Xmas S&H) for a little over $50. Based on instructions/illustrations, it plugs into existing wiring harness plugs in parallel /"in between".
Online trailer wiring searches yielded wiring color coding, etc and eventually pointed me to this easy/foolproof (hopefully) way to supplement the bumper plug. Need to get a hole saw to drill a hole in the bed wall, that SHOULD be the hardest part (?).

Hears a diagram. The left image is the tow vehicle side, right image is the trailer side.

Try search on TDR for CanBus and wiring. Some have had problems splicing into the truck's wiring. The computer is constantly monitoring all circuits to include knowing the resistance value of all existing wiring. I think the preferred alternative was to run a long extension/splitter from the truck's factory location.
