I really like my old, aluminum mirrors. I think they look nice, and are very functional! I have never been snuck up on by another vehicle while towing... they give you plenty of view!

I catch a ration of crap from some... call them "monkey bars" and all kinds of things, but they are a lot like the cummins... do the job and do it well!

Mark... using them for a "first alert"? Be careful around corners! (hehe).

I'd rather be... .
Cummin than Strokin.

I agree you can't beat those big 3 point door mounted towing mirrors for visibility, but the reason I don't like them is not so much for "looks", but because they are strictly a manual operation. I like power mirrors because I can fine tune the adjustment, swing it down to look at where my tires are in relation to the curb, etc. Also with the power extensions, I can pull it in to clear a narrow gate (had to do it today) and extend them out again without having to get out of the truck. I have never seen any slip on towing mirrors that did not vibrate so much that it made them almost useless. I currently run the Power Visions at about 3/4 extension and can see just fine around the 7'10" chip box I have on my truck. Vibration is very very minimal.

I like new fold out mirrors on my truck. I had the power ones with slip on extensions on my old truck and they were worthless to me when towing. I would trade the power luxury for being able to see clearly while towing anytime, I think there great.

Hey Rob, your '99 "monkey bar" factory mirrors are stainless steel not aluminum. #ad

... . old tech. for an old dude eh? #ad

RobG,
Take off the inside cover(1 screw)and then tighten the thre mounting nuts. Had a friend who had these mirrors, and that is what he did to correct the vibrating. He claims they are super for towing;wouldn't trade them for any of the add-ons.

Anyone know of a source for heated 3 point mirror heads? While we're at it, heated and with marker lights as well.
