Dometic AC 13,500 BTU Model, Wattage?

Hi I have a 2001 3500 QC 4x4 with Factory Trailer Tow Mirrors . My question is there anybody that offers a set of elect TrailorTow Mirrors for my truck ? Thank You . stock for now

watt,

I don't know how mech. inclined you are, but I had the same problem and I bought a set of '03 power/heated mirrors and MADE them work on my '01,simply 'cause the dealer said I couldn't! If you want to know how to do it, PM me and I'll give you phone #, 'cause it'll be much easier to explain over the phone.

Later, Rob

I have done the same thing-not installed on the truck yet but the mirrors are together waiting. It is a PITA-I tried to describe it to yogibear in another post but like Rob says it's almost better describing it over the phone-I'm thinking I'm gonna put a page up somewhere when I'm done to detail it all.

Jason

PITA, yabetcha, the only thing I got lucky on was the fact that the wires for power and heat were allready behind the doors, justa waitin' fer me hookem' ta somethin':) :) . They sure are nice though, worth every second I spent on 'em!:D

Rob

I too am interested in this mod. If someone wants to write the instructions out, I would be happy to post them on my website. Is the wiring all in place on the trucks with factory tow mirrors? I assume that the switch is the only other item needed.

Ken

I gotta finish the install for sure Ken-waiting to find some of the connectors used from factory as I don't want to cut the ones off the old mirrors-they're going on my brother's '98. Then I'll take some pics and write out the destructions-sorry I mean instructions! :D

As for the wiring part-I'm not totally sure as my truck had the heated power mirrors already. I suspect the harnesses are in place-you'd just need the power mirror switch in the door and the climate control panel with the heated mirror switch. When I get this set working we're gonna put a set on another 2001 without power/heat so then I'll know for sure

J

The way I understand it is that, some have the harness in and some don't, just depends on what the line guy had in his hand at the time. :-laf

As far as the Heat switch goes, there was no way I was gonna pay $153 fer that, I ran a seperate switch for that, $1. 50;) ANd I didn't have to rip the dash apart.

I as well have the tow mirrors and if there is a way to do this without too much trouble, I would like to know as well

I will subscribe to this thread to keep up with it. Hope you get part #'s and everything put up.

Ok let me get this strait here. Are you saying that you had tow mirrors and are simply switching to power OR are you saying you merged a power mirror with the tow mirror to make a powered tow mirror?

If it's the latter I want the instructions also, I just bought the tow mirrors to replace the powered ones, and if I could combine them somehow that would be the best of both worlds!

It's merging the old non-power tow mirrors with the new heated power tow mirrors off the 2002 DR (1500's) to make one to fit our trucks. I haven't got mine mounted yet-until I do I'm not gonna put anything up so I make sure I get it right the 1st time!

I have a 2001 with power mirrors and I really want to install the power towing mirrors. Please post information about this a. s. a. p.

Thanks

bracket source?

I've looked into doing this swap too. I was going to do it the way (Jason I think?) did it - that is a set of new power ones from a 1500 and mated to a set of brackets from a non-powered 2500 set. Only snag is the dealer told me the brackets are not serviced alone - you have to buy a whole non-powered mirror just for the bracket!

Has anyone that's had a non-powered set apart noticed if there is a manufacturer or part number listed on the bracket? That would make life a little easier and cheaper I think.

By the way, my local 5-star dealer was asking $270 EACH for the non-powered trailer mirrors. ha ha ha.

Hey VIc,

Try a junkyard, I'm sure they're alot cheaper there. I allready had the tow mirrors on when I did the swap, so I didn't have that problem. I certainly wouldn't get new ones.

Rob

Hmmmm.how about calling the manufacturer

Hello. .

does anybody know who build's the stock Dodge towing mirror's,

and a phone number, i'll call just to see if they are/maybe thinking of retro fitting the towing mirrors with power to fit on our trucks, because i'm sure they could make a nice profit from it, instead of us trying to Frankenstein the new/old mirrors together,.

just my . 02cts in, and i'll probably buy the manual one's next month, tired of waiting...

thank you

dave

Dave, they are not going to make them for the 2nd Gen. trks. , believe me, I know. The Co. that makes the OEM mirrors are making the Magna X-Mount mirrors, the ones everyone is calling the Lucerix mirrors. I talked to the man who runs Magna a few months ago, and that is what he said. Sorry!!

Might try calling Mopar 4 less, 1-800-748-2139. You might be able to get the mirrors for substancially less than what your dealer is charging. I just ordered some 2001 rear wheel liners for my 2002 and it cost half what dealer parts depts normally charge.
